Tips on Harnessing FEARS & Developing Self-Confidence

1- The Fear of Failure

The fear of failure is the single greatest obstacle to success in adult life. Taken to its extreme, we become totally pre-occupied with not making a mistake, with seeking approval for security above all other considerations. The experience of the fear of failure is in the words of "I can't", "I can't." We feel it in the front of the body, starting at the solar plexus and moving up to the rapid beating of the heart, rapid breathing and a tight throat. We also experience this fear in the bladder and in the irresistible need to run to the bathroom.

2- The Fear of Rejection

The second major fear that interferes with performance and inhibits expression, is the fear of rejection. We learn this when our parents make their love conditional upon our behavior. If we do what pleases them, they give us love and approval. If we do something they don't like, they withdraw their love and approval-which we interpret as rejection.

The Roots of Type A Behavior

As adults, people raised with conditional love become preoccupied with the opinions of others. Many men develop Type A behavior which is characterized by hostility, suspicion and an obsession with performance to some undetermined high standard. This is expressed in the attitude of "I have to, I have to," and is associated with the feeling that "I have to work harder and accomplish more in order to please the boss" who has become a surrogate parent.

The Most Common Trap

More than 99 percent of adults experience both these fears of failure and rejection. They are caught in the trap of feeling, "I can't, but "I have to," "I have to," but "I can't."

The Key to Peak Performance

The antidote to these fears is the development of courage, character and self-esteem. The opposite of fear is actually love, self-love and self-respect. Acting with courage in a fearful situation is simply a technique that boosts our regard for ourselves to such a degree that our fears subside and lose their ability to effect our behavior and our decisions.

TO DO:

Here are two things you can do to increase your self-esteem and self-confidence and overcome your fears.

First, realize and accept that you can do anything you put your mind to. Repeat the words, "I can do it! I can do it!" whenever you feel afraid for any reason.

Second, continually think of yourself as a valuable and important person and remember that temporary failure is the way you learn how to succeed.

Imagine becoming unstoppable in everything you do

Once I teach you how to capitalize on your strengths and build your self-confidence, you will find success at anything you do. When you have systematic control of your conscious mind, you will become fearless at your work and in your personal life.

How To Improve or Change Your Life With Forgiveness.

Do you really want to hang on to hate and anger? Here's how to let go and be at peace.
By Jacques Girard, Ph.D. (Inspired by an article By Sandy Andrew)

Have you ever experienced an event in your life that you can’t seem to forget? It agitates and angers you when you recall and dwell on the memory. Perhaps someone, or a group did one of the following to you--stole from you, misled or cheated you, even abused or lied to or about you. And you want to get back at them—period! You can’t seem to get it out of your mind...

If anger and hate are rising within you whenever you think of what was done to you--stop and ask yourself: "Do I really want to forget the event? Or is it possible that I enjoy my thoughts of anger, hate, and revenge?"

The Choice of Revenge or Forgiveness

Fear, anger, hate, and revenge are the most destructive forms of energy that a person can experience. These emotions can dominate your thinking and can lead you to become unhappy, nervous, agitated, depressed, and commit negative acts.

And if you commit a negative act, you in turn will become part of that negative cycle. What goes around comes around, no matter who you are. We see this time and time again in the news. By giving in to your fear, anger, and hate, you ultimately will be no different from those who wronged you in the first place. Worst of all, the poisonous negative feelings will soon begin to affect you, your mental and physical health.

Begin your day by painting your dreams

By allowing yourself to forgive the person or group, you may find yourself in a more peaceful and content state of mind. When you let go of the need for revenge, which is fed by your hate and anger, you will naturally start focusing on the constructive things in life that truly matter to you, and bring you a sense of peace and fulfillment.

In every instance, you have a choice of responses:

* negative or positive
* destructive or non-destructive
* irrational or logical
* vengeful or forgiving
* acidic of Chasidic

There may be times in your life when you have to defend yourself, your family, or even your country. But apart from these exceptional situations (and even then), the choice is yours. Your life can be positively radiant and fulfilling, or it can become depressingly dissatisfying, unhappy, negative and hateful.

How to Forgive

Most of us have trouble with the concept of letting go of anger toward someone who has wronged us. The problem is that we can become so entrenched in our own viewpoint, we simply can’t picture thinking or behaving differently. It is important to acknowledge the difference between denial, escapism, cowardice, non-assertiveness and Forgiveness.

Here are ten ways to help you move towards contentment and forgiveness in your life and move away from toxic emotions. Go to a quiet place, preferably in your home, then relax for about 5-10 minutes and go through the following steps in your mind.

1. Calm your emotions through deep breathing, self-hypnosis, yoga.
2. Analyze the event from a logical, objective perspective.
3. Seek the truth and all the facts.
4. Acknowledge the facts of what actually happened.
5. Know that you were mistreated, but did not mistreat in return.
6. Decide that you shall not become a victim or martyr.
7. Let the memory fade into history.
8. Let go of the anger and hateful energy that surrounds you.
9. Focus your thoughts on those who care about you in life.
10. Focus your thoughts on the things and people in life that you like or love.

By performing these simple mental exercises on a daily basis, you should gradually notice that you feel more content and at peace with yourself. By focusing on the positive suggestions above, and more of your own choice, you will attract positive energies, mental, spiritual and physical health into your life…and This Is Definitely So!

With Love from,

Jacques

And take without forgetting.

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us...go ahead and delete this...
For the rest of us, pass this on...

Sidestep ‘Spouse Diabetes’ and Noah's Wisdom

Research shows that spouses of people with type 2 diabetes are more than twice as likely to develop it too. Couples often share risk factors for developing diabetes, such as eating and exercise habits. Reduce your risk by exercising regularly, eating a healthy breakfast to help reduce the risk of insulin resistance syndrome—which often precedes diabetes and having a doctor screen you for the disease.

As we shall see in many areas of this expose..the more we hear, read, watch the various advice, strict ‘dos and don’ts’ of the ‘Experts’…and then the embarrassed ‘revised’ updates…the more we may relax, realizing that a box of Kosher salt would help us take what they say..one grain at a time… …An anonymous contributor sent me the following gems of wisdom inspired by …

Noah's Wisdom...

Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark...

ONE: Don't miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. :o)

(Jacques' Note:) How interesting that I am not alone when it comes to being skeptical and selective about the "sound advice" of critics and professionals (as mentioned above in # FIVE and TEN)...Have a Great weekend!
